Understand the Science of Human Performance
Exercise Science at Central Christian College of Kansas prepares students to study how the body moves, performs, and responds to physical activity. This program builds a strong foundation in areas such as anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
Students gain hands-on experience assessing fitness, designing exercise programs, and applying scientific principles to improve health and performance. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, data analysis, and working with individuals of varying fitness levels and needs.
Grounded in a Christ-centered perspective, the program emphasizes stewardship of the body, integrity, and a commitment to helping others live healthy, active lives. Graduates are prepared for careers in fitness training, strength and conditioning, wellness coaching, and related fields, as well as for graduate study in areas such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or athletic training.

Course Examples
Introduction to P.E., Sports & Fitness
Includes a historical and contemporary view of physical education career possibilities, aims, and objectives, with a view toward the development of a basic philosophy of physical education, sport, and fitness.
Kinesiology
A study of human motion emphasizing the musculoskeletal structure and neuromuscular involvement in voluntary movement. In addition, bio-mechanical principles involved in the performance of motor/sport skills and strength training exercises.
Exercise Testing, Evaluation, and Prescription
This course will consider the use of health and fitness field and laboratory instruments, techniques, procedures, and equipment. Special emphasis will be placed on the ability to administer test protocols for evaluating the health-related components of physical fitness.
Exercise Prescription for Special Populations
This course will help students understand how to utilize effective exercise programs to help promote health for those with special conditions/diseases.
Sport & Exercise Psychology
This course focuses on the application of psychological principles within the realm of sports and competition. Special attention will be given to the psychological components of sport that can hinder and enhance the athlete. Coaching and mentoring strategies are evaluated, as well as topics such as motivation, personality, anxiety, performance, and environment.
