Scrolling Back Through Time

1884

Central Christian College began as Orleans Seminary in Nebraska. Rev. C.M. Damon & wife founded it for grades K-16.

1914

The school was moved to its present location in McPherson, Kansas and took on the new name Central Academy and College.

1923

Central earned Kansas junior college accreditation, becoming the state's first and oldest junior college.

1932

Alpha Kappa Sigma Honor Society launched by Pres. Stoll & Dean Miller to honor top Free Methodist grads.

1940

The College’s name changed to Central College to mark its transition away from K-8 offerings.

1944

J.T. Pyle helped approve intercollegiate athletics at Free Methodist colleges; Central started men's basketball & cheer.

1964

Wessington Springs College closed (high school in '68); Central now holds alumni records & hosts reunions.

1986

Lead by Coach Jerry Malone, the Men’s Soccer Team won back to back National Championships.

1989

Prof. Johnson pioneered the bachelor's program, launching Central's first four-year ministry degree.

1991

The Class of 1991 became Central's first bachelor's graduates; Pres. Favara earned his initial degree then.

1999

Renamed Central Christian College of Kansas to affirm its enduring Biblical Christian commitment amid cultural shifts.

2001

Within a decade of 4-year programs, the School of Professional Education added dual credit & accelerated degrees.

2001

The School of Professional Education launched online courses, growing quickly into the campus's largest segment.

2015

Thanks to a Windgate Foundation grant, the Art Building was renovated for ceramics, stained glass, painting & drawing.

2018

Rev. Dr. Leonard “Lenny” Favara Jr, (CC’89, ’91) was appointed by the Board of Trustees as the 14th President of Central Christian College of Kansas.
