Master of Science in Strategic Leadership

The Master of Science in Strategic Leadership focuses on both people and processes in strategy, leadership and team management, ensuring that the student has the skills needed to become an agent of informed change, rather than just a procedural manager. The student will focus on real-word issues within the context of their own field, pulling from both the expertise of others and their own experiences, skills, and abilities.

 

The logistics for the program are:

  • The Master of Science in Strategic Leadership consists of 12 courses totaling 36 credit hours.
  • Each course is six weeks in length.
  • The time it takes to complete the program is 18 months.
  • Students can study 100% online or in a blended program located in McPherson Kansas.
  • Total Price per Credit Hour is $495!

Course Breakdown & Descriptions

Focusing on the interplay between followership, leadership, and mission, students will gain preliminary insights into elements of strategic cohesiveness. In addition,through personal assessment, reflection, and coaching, students will gain insight into personality, governance style, and behavioral patterns in an effort to develop skills and complement areas of weaknesses.

Emphasizes identity issues that are critical to understanding individual and collective processes in organizational life in relation to strategic leadership management.

In this applied course, students are challenged to critically engage the processes and tools used in strategic planning. Course topics include engagement, visions, mission, outcomes, monitoring, and execution.

In an effort to develop a working model for organizational innovation, students will critically engage change models. Case studies provide a basis through which students will demonstrate problem solving and ethical decision-making skills.

Relying on the field of Industrial Psychology, students will explore techniques used to collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data, with an emphasis on using data to inform the decision making process.

This course immerses the students in both the philosophical and practical realities of ethical leadership by emphasizing the development of an ethical and moral framework for both personal and organizational leadership. A number of ethical models are explored.

Using a case approach, this course provides students with the opportunity to engage the crises life cycle. Topics include preparation, crises response, recovery, horizon scanning, assessment and remediation, communication, as well as other applicable topics.

Students explore the means to identify and assess individual and organizational sources of power, influence, and control. In addition, the students will have opportunity to develop skills in negotiation, mediation, and diplomacy designed to leverage these sources of power, influence, and control leading to synergetic collaboration and cooperation.

This course exposes the student to information and resources needed to help the modern leader to use financial data to make informed decisions. Topics include GAAP principles, budget development & management, reporting, dashboards, cost accounting, and other related themes.

This course expands on theory and practice of organizational behavior. This course will address various models of interpersonal behavior and challenge the student to develop skills designed to operationalize individual and organizational transformation. The course focuses on diagnosing barriers and implementing behavioral change to overcome obstacles while leveraging opportunities and strengths. Topics include brain plasticity, productivity, creativity, resilience, grit, motivation, as well as other behavior-based strategies for success.

Engaging both historical and contemporary exposés,students will examine the negative and positive application of strategic leadership. Through a balanced focus on theory and practice. The course includes a project that challenges students to analyze the impact of leadership on performance outcomes, providing the student with the opportunity to identify constructive models for future consideration and application.

Serving as the capstone experience, this course challenges students to apply strategic thinking and theory models by assessing the strategic effectiveness of a living organization. The capstone project provides an opportunity for the students to put together concepts and theories learned throughout the program. The project includes an analysis a professional field and organization, including recommendations and guidance designed to assist the organization and its constituency in the implementation of strategic initiatives.

How would a leadership degree help me?

The Master of Science in Strategic Leadership focuses on both people and processes in strategy, leadership and team management, ensuring that the student has the skills needed to become an agent of informed change, rather than just a procedural manager. The student will focus on real-word issues within the context of their own field, pulling from both the expertise of others and their own experiences, skills, and abilities.

How long will it take?

Students can finish in as little as 18 months. Each class is six weeks and the program consists of 12 courses so that equals one and a half years. Imagine in a little over a year you could have already earned your masters degree!

How do I apply?

The first step is to apply, which you can do online in the Central Christian College Application Portal. After you finish that the admissions team will walk you through the admissions process.

Where do I send my transcripts?

Transcripts can be mailed to 1200 South Main Street, McPherson Kansas 67460. To have them received faster send them electronically to admissions@centralchristian.edu.

If I graduated from Central's Undergraduate program do I need to request my transcripts?

No you will not need to request to have your Central transcript sent we will take care of that for you! If you have taken any other college credit classes, however, you will need to have those sent in.

How long until I know if I have been accepted?

Once you have completed all of the steps to enrollment the admissions committee will review your application. The average time after we have received all of your documents and transcripts until you are notified on an admission decision is about three to six business days.
