Central Joins National Effort to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking

Group of students wearing blue all facing the camera in the lobby of Greer AuditoriumMcPherson, KS – On January 11, 2023, students and staff at Central Christian College of Kansas participated in #wearblueday, a national initiative aimed at raising awareness about human trafficking. This is an issue that impacts communities across the country and the world, and Central is committed to taking a stand against it.

According to Dr. Lara Vanderhoof, Chief Academic Officer at Central,

“Participating in the Blue Campaign helps bring awareness to how to prevent human trafficking. This is a national initiative with Homeland Security.  There are too many individuals trapped in human trafficking.  We live in a broken world, but we have power to transform lives as we protect the most vulnerable, marginalized, and oppressed individuals in the world.  Take Stand, Take a Voice to bring about hope and healing to those held in captivity, in a violent, forced situation.  CCCK brings light to the issues of human trafficking by taking a stand and wearing blue.”

At Central, being involved in initiatives like this aligns with the college’s mission, vision, and Core4 values. Central strives to offer a Christ-centered education that equips students to transform the world, and being engaged in efforts to combat human trafficking is one way that students and staff can live out this mission.
