Some Personal Thoughts |

| I grew up in the Boise Valley of Idaho within a farming family. My dad
passed away in 2005, but my mom still lives in the family home on the
farm. My childhood memories and my first job was pulling and hoeing
weeds from the sugar beets
fields, something I did for several years, until I could drive into
town for a 'real' job. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Idaho State University as a freshman, but realized that the large university was not for me. I transferred to McPherson College as a sophomore, the same college my great grandparents, grandparents, parents and oldest sister had attended. It just seemed to be my destiny. It was also a familiar setting since I was raised in the Brethren faith, of which McPherson College is associated. While working on my Bachelor of Arts, with Elementary Education certification, I met and married my husband, Gregg. After graduation, I taught for five years at the fifth grade level in public education. With the arrival of our two daughters, I stayed home for a number of years, before I entered the work force again by substituting in the McPherson public school district. I also returned to school to earn certification in Early Childhood Special Education, for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. My other work experiences have been as a director of a large childcare business, Director of Christian Education in a local church and I continued as a full-time substitute in the public schools. During my substituting I spent a year in an elementary school library. Through that experience, I began my employment with CCC in the fall of 2002. I love both my job and the college. It has been a wonderful match. I truly enjoy the people, the students and the environment in which I work. I feel truly blessed to be a part of the CCC family with all of its living faith and the blessings that are spread to all who experience CCC. |
